Yankees star's new non-closing reality has come with 'adjusting' as he throws another scoreless outing

If it wasn’t for the inning, you might not have known anything was off about Devin Williams.

The right-hander entered Friday’s 3-0 win over Tampa Bay and made easy work of the bottom of the Rays’ lineup in The Bronx, his third straight scoreless inning.

But this outing came in the eighth inning — not the ninth — as the Yankees and Williams try to work him back into the form he had for much of his career with Milwaukee.

Williams was entrusted with a three-run lead before Luke Weaver closed it with another dominant inning in the ninth.
