KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For a second straight night, the Yankees are hoping they dodged a bullet with Jazz Chisholm Jr. having to leave the game early.
Chisholm departed Wednesday’s 6-3 win over the Royals with left groin tightness that he experienced while running the bases in the top of the fifth inning, but the initial prognosis sounded positive.
“I think he’s OK,” Boone said. “Felt a little something in his groin. [Strength tests] and all that’s good. So we’ll see what we have [Thursday].”
Chisholm was trying to stretch out his legs while standing on third base in the top of the fifth after going first to third on Anthony Volpe’s double.
Oswald Peraza replaced him at third base in the bottom of the frame.

On Tuesday night, Chisholm was forced to leave the game in the seventh due to neck tightness an inning after colliding with third baseman Maikel Garcia’s knee on a steal.
Chisholm took exception with Garcia’s tag on the play, but there was no carryover into Wednesday’s game.
