When Georgia, 8, was shopping for a school uniform with her mom, she noticed that boys’ trousers had real pockets while girls’ only had fake ones. Georgia ended up buying boys’ pants because of the pockets.

She wanted that to change, so she took action by writing a letter to the supermarket chain, Sainsbury’s, and started a petition at her school. She gathered 56 signatures from fellow students, including some boys who supported her cause.

When Georgia returned to the store this year, she found that girls’ trousers now included pockets. The new trousers also feature a bow stitched into the waist, along with the deep pockets she had requested.

“Customer feedback is really important to us and we share Georgia’s passion for offering a choice in style of school uniform,” Sainsbury’s spokesperson commented.
