Today I was reminded in the most beautiful way why I do what I do. While I was pumping gas, a little girl came up to my truck. The moment I saw her with her parents and big brother, tears filled my eyes. Her mom leaned down and asked her, do you remember your angel?
Those words hit me so deeply, because just over three years ago I was giving CPR to that same little girl when she was almost two years old. She was lifeless that day, and yet today she stood in front of me with the biggest smile, proudly telling me she is now five and heading to Disney.
It was a powerful reminder of the calling behind this job and the impact it can have. I am beyond grateful for the agency I work for, the training we receive, and the tools that allow us to be ready in moments like that.
Sweet girl, enjoy every second of your Disney weekend. You filled my heart more than you will ever know.
