On June 12, Abraham Chabon, 20, was charged with second-degree strangulation and first-degree rape in connection with the alleged attack on January 25, 2024, according to a felony complaint revealed in court.

The younger Chabon, who is a student at NYU, appeared in court for the second time on Wednesday, following his arraignment on the charges last week.

As reported by the NY Post, the complaint states that he is accused of seizing the victim by the neck, impeding her breathing, then moving her to a bed where he raped her and “struck [the victim] repeatedly in the face … causing stupor and loss of vision in one eye.”

His father is a celebrated American writer and Pulitzer Prize recipient, known for works such as “Moonglow,” “Wonder Boys,” “The Mysteries of Pittsburgh,” and “Telegraph Avenue.”
