Researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology found that when they activate a protein called PRRX1, cancer cells stop multiplying and turn into fat cells.

These transformed cells became unable to form tumors or spread to other parts of the body.
+
The study focused on breast cancer and sarcoma cells, showing promising results in both types.
+
“In particular, this study has revealed in detail, at the genetic network level, what changes occur within cells behind the process of cancer development, which has been considered a mystery until now,” Professor Kwang-Hyun Cho commented.
+
The researchers are now developing methods to activate PRRX1 in human patients, potentially creating new therapeutic approaches for cancer treatment.
