NEW: Three individuals dine and dash from a local black owned Chicago restaurant to avoid paying for their $200 shrimp and lobster tab.

The three suspects were seen giggling as they left without paying.

“It’s actually disappointing, very disappointing to see that from the community we actually serve,” said Phlavz co-owner Andrew Bonsu.

“The young lady that was serving that table, she’s got kids at home,” co-owner Phil Simpson said.

The owners identified the suspects but refused to accept payment from them because they decided to do it the “right way” instead and filed a report for theft with the police.

Dine and dashing is on the rise in Chicago since the pandemic, according to the Illinois Restaurant Association.
