Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow were former teammates and close friends from their days playing rugby league.

Rob was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in January 2020. Since then, Kevin has raised more than £8 million through various challenges including running seven ultramarathons in seven days.

The duo also participated in the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon in 2023.

Kevin pushed Rob in a specially adapted wheelchair for the entire 26.2-mile course. Just before the finish line, in a deeply moving gesture, Kevin helped Rob out of the chair and carried him across.

“… everyone wants to know what your time was but this, it doesn’t matter how long it takes. The longer it takes, the more time I get to spend with him,” Kevin commented.

Sadly, Rob passed away on 2 June 2024.
