“Saturday Night Live” is poking fun at the man formerly known as Prince Andrew.
“SNL” star Michael Che joked about how King Charles relieved Andrew, 65, of his royal titles during the sketch comedy show’s popular “Weekend Update” segment on Nov. 1.
“Prince Andrew has been stripped of his royal title of ‘Prince’ due to his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein,” Che, 42, quipped. “And Andrew says he can only become a prince again if he gets a kiss from a young princess.”
King Charles, 76, officially started the process to remove Andrew’s titles and ordered him to vacate Royal Lodge on Thursday, Oct. 30.
The surprising decision was reportedly made due to Andrew’s close association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as well as the ongoing controversy surrounding his ties to the scandal.
Andrew, meanwhile, had announced that he would no longer use his Duke of York title shortly before the release of accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s posthumous memoir last month.
Giuffre, who died by suicide at the age of 41 in April, had long alleged that Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked her to Andrew when she was only 17 years old.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” Buckingham Palace’s statement began. “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.”
“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence,” the Palace continued. “Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”
Although the Palace acknowledged that Andrew denies any wrongdoing in connection with the Epstein scandal, it added that King Charles and Queen Camilla “wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
But this wouldn’t be the first time “SNL” ridiculed the former Duke of York for his royal woes.
Back in 2022, when Giuffre was suing Andrew for alleged sexual abuse, Che’s “Weekend Update” co-anchor Colin Jost joked about the prince being stripped of his royal duties by Queen Elizabeth.
“It’s an unprecedented case of an adult stripping Prince Andrew,” Jost, 43, quipped at the time.
After losing his royal titles and being ordered to vacate Royal Lodge, Andrew is said to be relocating to a property on the Sandringham Estate.
The disgraced former duke will reportedly have any future accommodations privately funded by King Charles.
“I think it will be pretty well a living hell for him, given his particular fondness for titles and his entitled attitude,” royal author Richard Fitzwilliams said regarding how Andrew might handle the matter.
“One of the troubles with him is that he has proven to be so greedy,” Fitzwilliams added. “People see him as entitled, greedy and also unbelievably bovine.”
