Josh Bennett is just 13 years old and something awful happened to him. A group of kids attacked him because he wouldn’t hand over his brand new Champions League football. They punched and kicked him, stole the ball and ran away. After that day Josh was so frightened he didn’t even want to leave the house.
But what happened next is truly heartwarming. Thousands of people from all over the world reached out with messages of love and support. Athletes sent him signed shirts and medals. Strangers offered to buy him a new football. He was even given the chance to take part in professional training sessions.
Over the weekend Josh got to walk out as the match day mascot for Swansea City and even scored penalties on the pitch at halftime. After seeing so much kindness poured into his life Josh turned to his mum and said with a smile, “The bullies haven’t won.”
Sometimes the world shows us just how much good is still out there. ❤️⚽
