It’s my ex-wife’s birthday today. I got up early, picked up flowers, a card, and a small gift, then went over so our kids could give them to her. I even stayed to help them make her favorite — chocolate chip pancakes.
Someone inevitably asked, “Why do you still do that for her? You’re divorced.”
Here’s why: I’m raising two boys who will become men. How I treat their mother — even though we’re no longer together — shapes how they’ll treat women and view relationships. It’s easy to be decent when things are good. It matters even more when they aren’t.
So if you’re a parent, remember: your kids are watching. Be the example.
Raise good men. Raise strong women. The world needs them — desperately.
