“Sometimes teaching isn’t about textbooks or test scores…
Sometimes, it looks like sitting on the floor in the middle of the hallway with a kid who’s having a really rough day.
The boy in this photo has been struggling since coming back from winter break — acting out in class, shutting down, pushing people away. His teacher couldn’t find a way to reach him…
So Mr. Bailey decided maybe what he needed wasn’t discipline.
Maybe what he needed was someone who’d just see him.
Someone who’d sit down, eye-to-eye, and listen like a father would.
I didn’t catch much of the conversation, just enough to know he’s been getting picked on… and Mr. Bailey was reminding him how much he matters.
No big scene. No lecture.
Just quiet compassion in the middle of a busy school hallway.
I snapped this photo and walked away — didn’t want to break the moment.
THIS is what real teaching looks like.
Not just shaping minds, but healing hearts.”
