Bad Bunny has revealed the real reason he chose not to include the United States in his upcoming 2025-2026 tour.
The Puerto Rican rapper, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, claimed that he doesn’t want to perform in the US during his Debi Tirar Mas Fotos concert series because of fears that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “could be outside” his shows.
“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate – I’ve performed there many times,” the King of Latin Trap, 31, told I-D in an interview published Wednesday, Sept. 10.
“All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the US,” he continued. “But specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an unincorporated territory of the US…People from the US could come here to see the show.”
The “Dakiti” hitmaker, however, added that he was also “very concerned” ICE might organize outside his shows if he did include the US in his upcoming tour.
“Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world,” Bad Bunny explained. “But there was the issue of – like, f–king ICE could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
Fans were disappointed to see that the “Callaita” singer, who was romantically linked to Kendall Jenner from 2023 to 2024, wouldn’t be visiting the States when Bad Bunny first announced his Debi Tirar Mas Fotos World Tour in May.
Set to kick off on Nov. 21 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the “Monaco” singer will perform throughout Latin America and Europe, as well as Australia, Japan and London, before concluding the tour on July 26, 2026, in Brussels, Belgium.
During an interview about the highly anticipated performances, the “Happy Gilmore 2” actor touched upon why he wouldn’t be visiting the US – although he didn’t mention ICE raids at the time.
“It’s unnecessary,” he told Variety in June.
However, this wouldn’t be the first time the “I Like It” artist has shared his thoughts about ICE over the past few months.
Bad Bunny took to Instagram over the summer to criticize the federal agency for stopping several unidentified individuals in the “DTMF” rapper’s home country.
“Look, those motherf–kers are in these cars, RAV-4s,” he said in Spanish in the video. “They’re here in Pontezuela.”
“Sons of bitches,” Bad Bunny added, “instead of leaving the people alone and working there.”
The “Un Verano Sin Ti” artist, meanwhile, made headlines again last month when a US tourist visiting Puerto Rico for a Bad Bunny concert was shot to death in San Juan.
Kevin Mares passed away after being struck in the abdomen and side. The New York native was just 25.
“It’s very hard,” Mares’ father told The Post after his son’s tragic death. “Yesterday was a hard day. We’re still in pain. He was a beautiful person.”
