oday, an older man asked me if I was any good with phones because he was trying to open a picture message his granddaughter had sent him.

After putting Sienna in her pram, I had a look at his phone. It was a really old Nokia. Since it wasn’t a smartphone, I told him he wouldn’t be able to see the picture. He looked really sad and told me it was a photo of his granddaughter and her new baby. He hadn’t seen them yet because they live in Buxton.

I decided to forward the message to my own phone, and after a while I managed to open the photo. When he saw his great-granddaughter for the first time, he got very emotional. You could really see how much he loved them both as his eyes filled with tears.

He tried to give me £20 to buy my daughter a toy to say thank you. I told him I didn’t want it, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. So I asked him to wait, and I went to Boots to print out the photo. I even bought a frame for it.

When I came back and gave him the framed photo, he was so happy. He looked truly touched.

It really made my day to make someone else so happy.
