Today, my wife and I were at BIG LOTS when a man approached me asking for soap, a loofah, and deodorant. He explained that he had just gotten out of jail and was homeless. He wasn’t asking for money or anything else—just basic hygiene products. I didn’t hesitate for even a second. I told him to go get whatever he needed, that I’d take care of it. I remember when I was homeless, without clothes or hygiene products, right after I was released from prison. If it hadn’t been for my amazing mom buying me hygiene items and clothes, and my grandmother letting me stay with her, I don’t know where I’d be today.
I gave the man a ride and shared my story with him. I offered some advice and encouragement, telling him I had been in his shoes not too long ago. I encouraged him to keep going, to work hard, and to stay focused. I could tell by his voice that it really touched him. I believe that God has a plan for all of us. Kindness and compassion are the keys to success. 🙏❤️
