While stopping by McDonald’s for a quick bite, I overheard a tender moment between a mother and her young daughter.
The little girl quietly asked, “Can we eat here, please?”
They had purchased a single hamburger and chose the table beside mine. The mother then pulled out a thermos from her bag and poured her daughter a drink, likely tea.
As I naturally listened, I caught snippets of their story. They were just returning from the hospital. The mother had carefully saved enough money for the bus ride home and used the last of it to buy a hamburger — a first-time treat for her daughter at McDonald’s.
Once I finished my coffee, I went back to the counter, bought a Happy Meal, and quietly placed it on their table. I left before they could protest or say much.
But the gratitude in the mother’s eyes and the pure joy illuminating the little girl’s smile stayed with me.
Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. 💔🍟
